Beans stir fry with roasted sesame seeds is a wonderful side for your holiday menu. You can prepare this on a regular basis too. The sesame seeds give beans a nutty flavor. We need a crispy bean, make sure it doesn’t go soggy. To make beans crispy we are going to cook on high heat and keep stirring.

You can add the whole bean without chopping. But I love to get the flavor and spice inside the beans. Therefore, I used a food processor to make work quick and easy. I used a slicer to have random cuts.

Steps for preparing beans stir fry with sesame seeds

  1. In a pan over high heat add sesame seeds and fry till it pops. Keep stirring the pan. Transfer in a bowl and keep aside.
  2. In the same pan add olive oil and saute beans.
  3. Add pepper, salt and cook on high heat and cook green beans until it becomes dark green.
  4. Top with sesame seeds and switch them off.

Should I chop the beans?

I would prefer to. I like the flavor and taste of every bite. If you like to use it as a whole string bean you can use it.

Why are my beans are soft and soggy?

Beans should be cooked on high heat, If it’s simmered or covered it releases water and turn soggy and get overcooked. Make sure you have fresh beans.

What are the other flavors I can add to string beans?

Chopped garlic, grated ginger, lemon zest, roasted walnuts, roasted peanuts are the other ingredients to flavor your string beans.

Can I add sesame seeds without frying them?

No, You cannot use them. Sesame seeds without roasting will not have any flavor. Make sure you roast them on high heat and keep stirring or they may get burnt. Use the handle to shake them and cover them with a lid so that the popped sesame seeds are not all over your counter and gas stove.

Once string beans are cooked, allow them to cool. Do not add sesame seeds at the end. Add the roasted sesame seeds in a separate container and can be kept well at room temperature for a week. Store the string beans in a freezer-friendly bag. To defrost, refrigerate it overnight, and while serving microwave until warm.

Ingredients
  

  • 25 green beans slitted in middle and halve
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp crushed red peppers
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds roasted
  • salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • Roast the sesame seeds on high heat until it pops. Keep aside.
  • Rinse and dry the beans and slit them in them in the middle and halve them.
  • On a heated pan, add olive oil. Add green beans and fry on high heat.
  • Add red chili peppers, salt, and mix well. Cover them with the lid and allow them to cook for 5 minutes.
  • Fry on high heat and sesame seeds and switch off.
